About the author

Hi. My name is Jeffrey Satkowski, or just Jeff. I enjoy writing and usually write about stuff I know or am interested in. Topics may vary widely from time to time, but I usually stick to my themes of leadership or public safety.

My day job is running a county 9-1-1 dispatch center in Michigan. I've been in the 9-1-1 business for 23 years and have a vast knowledge from sitting in the dispatch chair, to being a systems administrator who keeps all aspects of 9-1-1 technology up and running, to serving as the director, overseeing the whole operation. I have recently earned the ENP (Emergency Number Professional) designation from nena.org. This is a certification for the 9-1-1 industry and is nationally recognized.

I am also a Professional Emergency Manager (PEM) in the state of Michigan, a designation I earned in 2024 to compliment my work in 9-1-1 and support the county Emergency Management department as a backup person.

Prior to working in public safety I served in the United States Marine Corps as a radio operator in an infantry unit. I'm very proud of my service to the country!
