PSA: Amazon Removing eBook Downloads
Amazon Announcement Discontinuing the Ability to Download Ebooks

To my fellow readers, particularly those who read eBooks, I want to let you know that Amazon is removing our ability to download eBooks that we have rightfully purchased. This goes into effect 6 days from the writing of this post. (See screenshot above).

This is not a good thing and falls in line with what big tech is doing all over the place. That is a mindset that you will own nothing and like it. Amazon removing our ability to download our purchases for offline storage means that they can edit a books contents so that if you return to the book years later after purchasing it, it will not be the same book that you originally purchased. They can also simply remove the book from your Kindle library never to be seen again - even though you paid for it and own it. That goes back to the mindset that you will own nothing and like it.

This happens in the digital movie and TV show purchases from the likes of Apple, Amazon, and other places. You buy a movie or a TV series on say iTunes and some time later you go back to watch it and find that it has disappeared. This has happened to me several times over the years. Once I figured out what was going on I stopped buying digital content and went back to buying DVD's or Blu-ray's. This way I have a physical copy of what I purchased and I indeed own it. They cannot take that away from me.

I encourage everyone to go into your Amazon account and download your eBooks before it's too late.

Once you download them, there are ways to remove the DRM so that you can read the eBook on any device, including non-Kindle devices, or your computer too. I recommend doing so.
